LONDON BOOK FAIR Fair 2018 (APRIL 10-12)

On the advice of my publisher, Karen Strauss, I visited this week the London Book Fair together with my best friend Elisabeth Alblas, who also is my agent and PR-representative. Karen couldn’t be there since the Fair was too small for her. Furthermore, she is very busy among other activities with the BookExpo preparation, taking place in New York from May 30 through June 3^rd.

For us, it was quite an adventure, leaving Schiphol Airport late Monday afternoon. Although we were supposed to land on London City, we ended up in Southampton! Due to extreme weather conditions all London Airports shut down while we were in the air. By taking the train, we arrived at Waterloo Station later than planned, leaving just enough time to grab a quick meal before going to bed.

Fully energized we started our adventure the next day. After a five-minute walk we joined the international crowd and entered the Olympia Hall, eager to meet and engage with as many people as possible. During our visit we had some interesting discussions relating to the Jessie Golden series, so we keep our fingers crossed it will lead to new developments.

Apart from the many publishers, agents and other book related representatives, there were many workshops and presentations you could join. Even David Baldacci was there, discussing his writing methods and creative approach.

One of the surprises of the Fair was the common feedback we got from various people (with different functions) relating to my non-fiction book, Learn to Understand your Original Self. It gave me food for thought, leading to an expedited deadline to get the book ready before the end of this year. There is still a lot of work to do and combined with a full time job and the care of my mother, I hope I will be able to make it.

All in all, it was a great experience. Walking around for a couple of days among other passionate authors and book experts made me realize once again how I love writing, enabling me to share my thoughts on specific topics with the rest of the world. How I wish that I could write for a living, being busy with my books all day!

Well, no fairy-tale for me at this moment! However, no matter what the times may be I’m going to continue to write in the spare time I have, hoping to create through my work some more awareness around the powerful light we all have within: LOVE. And, who knows? Maybe I will be invited one day to the London Book Fair as a guest speaker, sharing my writing experience in front of a crowd just like David Baldacci when my dream transforms into reality! 🙂

CHILDREN’S RIGHTS

It was my best friend, Elisabeth, who inspired me to make the video I posted today. She always reminds her children how lucky they are that they are born in the Netherlands (Europe). I couldn’t agree more. Also I, too, am very privileged to be born and raised in a democracy, with freedom of speech, the upholding of human rights and a life without war. It makes me realize that the place where you are born strongly influences your childhood.

Not a day goes by that the daily papers or news channels are filled with topics about the suffering of a vast number of children around the globe caused by the craziness in this world. I feel immensely sad when I see the struggle and pain kids are suffering when they’re trying to flee their country running from war, caused by once again a difference in political view or religion. The horror they have to face in their own country and on their way to a better place is inconceivable.

Also the dark factories sheltering minors that work like slaves to increase the revenues of large corporations are appalling. Particularly in the fashion industry there are recent examples of child labor. When I hear or read about it in the news, I’m shocked. It only happened once that I bought a t-shirt with a brand that later appeared to be produced by minors under horrible circumstances. I immediately threw it away, never buying that brand again. But even today we can’t be absolutely sure that we’re not wearing clothes made by child which is quite disturbing.

Also in my vicinity I noted that the rights of children are severely violated. Although the Dutch government is closely monitoring that a child is protected (for example: child labor is practically out of the question), there are instances where severe sexual and physical abuse of little kids is taking place. It leads to different discussions like the system and the level of penalties in combination with a shortage of prisons. Given the downward trend in human behavior the number of incidents increases. It is part of the overall growing level of negative, evil energy.

I am realistic and down to earth enough to realize that neither I nor a whole society can ensure that the examples I mentioned above will never happen again. On the contrary, throughout the centuries mankind has created the world we are currently living in and thinking that it can be changed overnight is a utopia. However, as I explained in earlier video’s and posts, I just simply can’t shut my eyes for the fact that the situation in the world grows ever more stark day after day, also in relation to children.

For those of you who have watched my video’s World Peace and Quantum Physics as well as Our connection with the Earth, you know by now that science is indeed proving that the collective awareness of the human mind can be influenced, leading to a different more peaceful society in the very long run. According to the theory of Quantum Physics we can influence each other, like a snowball changing the downward trend in this world if we try to be mindful of our actions in everyday life, putting a positive mindset and love first in what we try to undertake. Only then will we have a chance to bring change, even though it is only a little bit by now.

So let’s make a start. I envision that eventually, after many, many generations to come, people might reflect on history, hardly being able to imagine that a child could not life like a child in the 21^st century since they all do live in peace in the future. Wouldn’t that be something?

HAPPINESS

While I was wondering which topic I had to pick for this month’s video, my attention was drawn to my mother who has Alzheimer’s. Her memory is pretty much gone, specifically her short-term memory. She forgets basically everything. The worst thing is that she also can’t recall my father died of cancer. Yesterday, she asked me every 5 minutes where he was, leading to countless moments I had to tell her about his sad demise, which was breaking her heart as if she heard it for the first time. Nevertheless, she is very brave and is showing that vibe of joy I have experienced ever since I was a little child.

My parents were very happy, although they both had been through a lot as most people of their generation. Among other things, they both lost their parents at a pretty young age, suffered as a child due to World War II and when they got married my father ended up in hospital for more than a year due to TBC. They also were very poor and struggled to hold their lives together, but felt rich with their children and the family life they led. They always taught me that you can make your own luck despite all the sadness you may suffer in life since from their point of view you don’t need that much to be happy.

As a child I doubted this statement; looking around me I thought that my classmates were far better off than me because they were “rich” and enjoyed all the things this material world has to offer. With other words: I thought there was a link with the amount of cash you had and the level of happiness you experienced.

Through the years I learned my own lessons and realized that my parents always had been right; it’s the little things than can make you happy and there is indeed not so much needed to take a different view on life.

“Always remember that tomorrow is a new day and the sun will shine again in your heart,” my Dad usually comforted me, when I faced another challenge in life. “Count your blessings and be happy with it.”

While doing my research I met a lot of psychics who have been through very severe challenges that you can barely imagine. Also looking at the news or reading about people’s experiences in magazines, I constantly watch the grief of many people, but also their take on life and the courage they find in themselves to face the new day with open eyes, being happy with what they still have in life.

So, when I was looking at my Mom yesterday, sitting in front of the television, clapping her hands, while singing along with an opera song, I suddenly knew what this video would be about. I hope you will enjoy it and also will find happiness in what really matters to you in this challenging society.

I AM ME

This week I posted a new video, I AM ME. Reason to choose this topic was yet another article I read about a young boy that was bullied at school because of his appearance. His life had become a living hell and therefore he tried to commit suicide. I felt extremely sad. How horrible it is that people are treating each other badly based on criteria set by society to determine who is “beautiful” or “ugly”, solely looking at a person’s cover? These “criteria” usually emerge from a mindset, often created and fed by images shown in the media, (in)directly leading to the definition of who is “beautiful” or not.

If you look at it the whole concept is extremely peculiar. First of all because our appearance is genetically determined. You’re just born with a certain “jacket” and that’s a given. You can’t change much about that and why should you? Furthermore another thing crossed my mind. What if television, magazines, billboards etc would show/feed us constantly with pictures of the ones society now calls “ugly”? Would those be called “ugly” now become suddenly “beautiful” because our mind is constantly fed with their image, mostly associated with products or things we like? And those who are now called “beautiful” would be defined as “ugly” since their image is not displayed anymore? Would they suddenly experience the same treatment as some of the others are facing right now? You see? Apart from many other reasons that alone is showing how nuts it is to treat a person badly based on its looks and that’s exactly what I try to make clear in my video.

Over the years a positive change is happening in the media. Advertisers are using more and more the everyday person in their commercials, with all kinds of looks. It might help to make people understand how irrelevant our appearance is when we interact with each other, although I realize that this twisted mindset is deeply rooted in our society.

I am Me, You are You, We are We. Our appearance is genetically determined. It’s a fact, a given. The definition of “beauty” concerning the way we look is a fantasy with all that implies. Too many children and adults are getting hurt. Let’s try to put a stop to this nonsense. Instead, we should focus on the beauty within, called love. It will bring so much more light, joy and happiness in the lives of so many people.

Let’s make the world a better place to live.

Book tour post 4: Harry Potter and Quest to the Unknown?

Harry Potter and Quest to the Unknown.

In the second week of January I had my regular call with my publisher during which she shared the great news that my debut novel Quest to the Unknown beat J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter for a brief moment on the Amazon bestseller list. To be quite honest it didn’t register immediately. Only when we came to the end of our call, I thought: did she just say Harry Potter? When I addressed the topic again she confirmed what I could hardly believe: I did beat this incredible popular book.

After I published this exciting news on Social Media, some people asked me what Quest to the unknown has in common with the famous series of J.K. Rowling. If you look at both books (“Drama and Play Anthologies”) there are indeed some similarities. Quest to the Unknown and Harry Potter are both based on fiction, there is a leading character on a mission, it’s a story told in different parts and there is way more to the story than meets the eye, particularly in the field of the paranormal. But that’s about it.

Quest to the Unknown, part 1 in the Jessie Golden Saga, is set in today’s business world, not in a world of fantasy. The onset of climate changes and the increasing aggression in our society are the premise of the series. In the end it will lead to a global catastrophe of immense magnitude with only a few survivors left that need to build up a new life on a totally destructed planet. Basic conveniences such as electricity, mobile phone, Internet and so on will all be gone.

Which brings me to the main differences between both books; while the Harry Potter tale for sure can’t happen in reality, Quest to the Unknown might actually occur theoretically, although I don’t hope so! The working of the Theory of Quantum Physics and the effects on our everyday life are certainly no fiction in my point of view (see the video’s I posted: Our Connection with the Earth and World peace and Quantum Physics). If people don’t discover what really matters in life and neglect to use the most powerful light within (called love) it could well be that in the very long run (I’m talking centuries!) something drastic might occur and the Earth will evolve, like it has done billions of years ago (i.e. Ice Age).

Furthermore I deliberately chose a female as the heroine of the story instead of a male (i.e. Harry Potter in J.K. Rowling’s work), actually multiple females. Why did I do that? For the very simple reason that women today are very strong, developed and intelligent individuals and if I had to pick a protagonist, it better could be a female or even better, multiple females! But I am also convinced that the strong support of a male can bring out the best in a woman. Although the females in my story are strong enough to complete their mission alone, they’ll find strength in the support of some men, bringing everything back in balance again!

Book tour post 3: Loveable Light and the Jessie Golden Series

Loveable Light and the Jessie Golden Series

In the year 2012 – when the Maya Calendar stopped, marking the start of a new spiritual age – Munay-Ki was very popular. This old rite from the Q’ero Indians was introduced to the Western World by Dr. Albert Villoldo. Munay-Ki means love energy, the energy of the heart. Through a number of specific initiations you’ll get emotionally and physically cleaned up, making you susceptible for change, focused on a new world in which mankind is more connected with the Earth.

When writing the second part of the Jessie Golden Series (Darkness and Light) I decided to join a Munay-Ki class as part of my research. In the syllabus of the workshop a reference was made to the Theory of Quantum Physics in conjunction with the number 144000 and a prophecy stating that if a group of 144.000 people would gather at sunrise, watching the sun come up in peace and harmony, holding hands, the bundling of positive energy could mean the start of world peace! Intrigued by this mysterious premonition I decided to take a closer look at Quantum Physics.

In a nutshell it all comes down to the structuring of particles. It states that if one particle is more organized than another, the lesser organized particle will be structured in the same way as the more organized one once they meet. And even when they separate the restructured particle will act as its influencer. All of a sudden I saw a parallel with the awareness of the human mind. When it’s less developed than another, it’s more open for ideas of stronger minded characters. And if those ideas are repeated continuously, the less developed mind is starting to believe in these ideas and begins to think in the same way as its influencer, in turn impacting other less developed people.

I reflected on the matter. Historically, it works like a charm if someone has a very bad, almost evil idea. Once launched, it will spread like wildfire. Take Hitler as an example. In no time almost the entire nation was supporting his philosophy and standing behind him, which had far-reaching consequences. The same can be said about terrorist organisations. A conclusive proof that an action of one person can affect those of another, particularly in times of economic set back or other stressful times when people are more vulnerable; in essence it’s very easy to start a “snowball effect”, also confirmed by Quantum Physics.

Fascinated by my findings, I concluded that the snowball effect works well as history proves, so far targeting evil and very bad practices. So why can’t it do exactly the same when the intention is good and full of love? Applying the saying “improve the world and start with yourself”, I started the Loveable Light initiative doing exactly that; making people aware of the working of Quantum Physics at the same time stimulating them to be more conscious about their everyday life and the powerful light within called love.

The Theory of Quantum Physics became one of the cornerstones of the Jessie Golden Saga. The book series and the Loveable Light initiative are very closely connected and dear to my heart. How it fits within the attempt of the protagonist of the book, Jessie Golden, to save humanity from total extinction you have to read for yourself.

Book tour post 2: the Jessie Golden Series and the current state of the Earth

The Jessie Golden Series and the current state of the Earth.

“Heavy mudslides in California claim 19 lives so far.” “32.000 Philippines are on the run for Mount Mayon.” “Civil war in Syria still continues unabated after five years.”
These are just some of the headlines of random articles I found in the newspaper this week. It’s repeating itself day in day out; another terrorist attack or act of war causing death and destruction, a major natural disaster doing the same. Is it co-incidence? Or is there more to it than the eye can see? Since I started to research the subject for a book series I write (the Jessie Golden Series) in which the coherence of energy is used in the storyline, I’m convinced all is related. So why do I think there is a connection? Actually, if you reflect on it, it’s quite simple.

Firstly science states all is energy in any form whatsoever; humans, nature, the animals, the plants, you name it. In a nutshell; every living thing on this planet, connected by that same energy, mingles, impacts and influences each other. You can compare it with the feeling of extreme discomfort that is coming over you when you face an ill-tempered person or when you experience a feeling of great joy when someone is doing the opposite. It’s a vibe that you pick up on changing the mood you’re in.

I guess the Earth is acting in a similar way. When we breathe love, light, peace and harmony, it will give the same in return. However, when we do the opposite, increasing the level of war, terror, crime and hate, it will surround us with a disruptive environment. Now I’m not saying that the current society is solely to blame for the increasing climate changes. The process was already started centuries ago by our ancestors and continues to get worse by the negative vibe and deeds of a minority on this planet. We need to be conscious that the way we act, whether it’s positive or negative, will resonate on the state of the Earth (click on the photo to watch my video: “Our Connection with the Earth”)

Where will it end if we don’t turn to action now? That’s exactly where the Jessie Golden Series come down to. Jessie Golden, a Dutch journalist and protagonist of the saga, is faced with a task that should prevent the human race from disappearing. Although she is trying to convince the world that a drastic change in the everyday life is necessary to enable a shift in today’s negative vibe, she is not able to prevent the Apocalypse, that will eliminate more than two third of the world’s population. Trying to survive on a planet that hardly looks like the one she is used to, without today’s primary utilities, she and her daughter need to discover the path that will prevent humanity from complete extinction.

Book tour post 1: why did I write Quest to the Unknown?

Why did I write Quest to the Unknown?

It’s always very interesting to look back and discover how things emerged. When I reflect on how I arrived to write the Jessie Golden Series, with part one Quest to the Unknown recently published, I can only conclude it’s there because another book isn’t! After years of hard work on my very first project – a novel based on my encounters with men in the dynamic business world -, I dropped it overnight due to some unforeseen circumstances that requested a complete rewrite of the story. Now was it coincidence or faith that led me into a different direction…..?!

Disappointed, I set the book aside, enjoying my summer holidays, totally not expecting at all that I would be back to writing again so soon. What did happen? Shortly after my return, I was overwhelmed by the remarkable life of a psychic. Inspired by these shocking facts a fiction tale popped up in my head and the Jessie Golden Series was born. At the same time I decided that the series had to reflect something relevant, two subjects that always have been top of mind, i.e., why is the world a cesspool of corruption, violence and terror and could there be a link with the increasing number of natural disasters?

Since I knew from the beginning the main lines of the series, I started my research into the world of the paranormal. I encountered some peculiar things, like the fact that a number of physics I interviewed stated independently of each other that a big natural disaster will occur in the future, leading to a complete clean up of this planet. It made me wonder. Ever since I was a little child, I dreamed over and over again about a series of different disasters leading to something frightening which was never revealed in that dream. Now I never paid attention to these recurring dreams. However, in combination with the interesting Theory of Quantum Physics, I began to reflect on the matter. It even led to the Loveable Light initiative and the awareness I would like to draw on the subject.

As any other author I automatically also included other autobiographical elements in the plot, among other characters noticeable in the protagonist of the series, Jessie Golden, which didn’t go unnoticed. In her pre-Alzheimer’s time my mother was so engaged in the story that she exclaimed at some point: “Why did you never introduce me to Carlos?” I had a big laugh out on that one and explained to her the character Jessie is pure fiction, despite some similarities.

At present three books are finished, with two still to be completed in the series. In fact, I just started with part four, Living in destruction. To be continued!
